I’ve enjoyed a number of his books and I particularly liked his Napoleon’s Army. I’d like to send his family and close friends my deepest condolences. He is a sad loss to the hobby.
He was an open-minded character and had a broad horizon, and his Franco-Canadian origins enabled him to address issues concerning the French (and also the Spanish - bravo!) from their standpoints, and to convey the "other point of view" in an unbiased manner to the Anglo-Saxon public. He gave me many new insights. Thank you.
What sad news and what a great loss to the community. A splendid and always reliable scholar. His legacy will live one however.
An exceptional gentleman and scholar.

The Napoleonic world is growing smaller.
Another loss of a good friend in our passion ... R.I.P. René
