Jörg Titze again transcribed handwritten memoires of a Saxon infantry officers who served in the Napoleonic Wars. Those are published in two booklets. Mandelsloh entered the Saxon army as a cadet and one finds interesting anectodes about this time of his career. Later he served as aspirant officer and even carried one of the colours of his regiments in 1806 at the age of 16.Mandelsloh describes very well the mood in the Saxon army - as well as how the admiration of Thiemann turned into hate and provides good insight in the defection at the battle of Leipzig - meanwhile there exist numerous Saxon first hand accounts, usually ignored in Anglo- or Frenchphone literature.
Needless to say - published in German.
