I'm considering writing a novel set during the Befreiungskriege, and continuing to Ligny and Waterloo. The main character would be a Prussian junior officer from Brandenburg or Pomerania.
What regiments would allow for the most drama and action in this time period?

James,
good idea! I would recommend the Neumärkisches Dragoon Regiment, especially its Jäger squadron. For more data see Archibald v. Keyserling's report on Thielmann's raid ( https://books.google.de/books?id=5J5DAAAAcAAJ ) and the notes of Louis v. Rauchhaupt ( https://books.google.de/books?id=mwYjAwAAQBAJ ). The squad was the only Prussian unit present at the battle of Hanau and saw many other adventures, e.g. the skirmish of Zeitz .
Best wishes, Thomas
I hadn't even considered the cavalry regiments yet, I should really give it some thought.
I was thinking about the Colberg regiment partially because they were one of the few units that fought at both Lützen and Bautzen as well as Großbeeren and Dennewitz.
The main character will likely be a nobleman, as it seems officers being promoted from the middle class or from the ranks was very rare.
Maybe a descendant of a Huguenot refugee to Brandenburg? Several did become officers in the Prussian army.
