Lieutenant Mathew Young

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about finding more information on Lieutenant Mathew Young, I have his information from the Naval Biography of 1849 and found him as POW in Valencinnes and later Verdun.

Where I'm struggling is what happened to him after the War, I know he ended up in Waterford Co Ireland eventually but any additional information or suggestions would be appreciated,

I have searched all the files for Young in National Archives and found his son Alfred but not the father,

I can't find anything for Mathew in findmypast either.

Any thoughts?

Hi James

Mathew/Matthew Young

Entered Navy 23 June 1798

Lieutenant 13 February 1806

Lieutenant with rank of Retired Commander 15 July 1839

He is not shown as employed in either 1814 or 1815.

Did not find any record of employment.

He appears to have retired under the provisions of His Majesty's Order in Council the 1st November 1830.

Young died 1 September 1855.

Good hunting.

Ron
