I will be responsible for the next online talk for the Friends of the Lines of Torres Vedras, and we will be discussing the Portuguese medals and decorations awarded to British officers during the Peninsular War.
If you have ever looked at a Peninsular war hero portrait and wondered about the medals pinned to the officer's chest, this information will be very helpful.
If you mistakenly believe that the medal depicted in the 1918 book ABC of War Medals and Decorations by W. Augustus Steward (available here), shown in the next picture, is authentic, this talk is essential.
