Austrian Cavalry Batteries
There is confusion as to how command control was implemented for such batteries. Rawkins suggests 2 drummers were present, but this seems impractical when riding a wurst. A trumpeter apparently did not appear until well post-Napoleonic Wars. Digby-Smith's translation in SOJ of Smola suggests commands were given by word of mouth.
Grateful for thoughts and guidance.

A Korporal is the equivalent of both a corporal and a sergeant. You are right about Unterkannonier - Austria was prone to trying to keep the costs down, so a lesser rank meant fewer Kannoniers on their pay level and the empire went bust in 1811. It is much like the Vize system used in peacetime, especially for Vize-Korporal, who would then become a full Korporal on that pay level in wartime. So, it is Korporals running the guns with the men being Kannoniers prior to 1811.
