Napoleon in England
Just reading some of the French newspapers in July 1815 as Napoleon was being taken to England in the Bellerophon. There was a rumour going round that Napoleon had already been to England. They alleged that he had come to see Paoli to request a commission and had lodged with a tailor in George Street by the Strand. Interesting that they even knew he lodged with a tailor, a detail added to make it more plausible :-)
