Does anyone have information on the life and career of this British Army officer, who was a commissary officer in North America during the American War of Independence? He was a friend of Burgoyne, apparently still in America in 1780, and died (I think) around 1797. I am particularly interested in his whereabouts between 1775 and 1785, as well as any information about his life following the AWI.
Thanks
Thanks Ron and Rob for the information - clearly Commissary Day did not leave a major documentary trail, but I appreciate your digging.
Follow-up found that he was promoted Lieutenant 16th Light Dragoons by purchase in 1768. He apparently exchanged to half pay c.1769.
A Nathaniel Day was listed in the 1773 Army List as half pay of the 66th Foot. Not in the 1778 Army List.
He returned to England in 1784. I did not find that he was employed after leaving Canada.
He's mentioned here:

I can find various minor mentions of his time as Commissary General but nothing afterwards.
