A Description of Christian von Ompteda of the King's German Legion
From the letters of Charles Napier. In October 1806, he wrote
". . . the German legion marches through here to-day, to-morrow, and next day. They are fine men, and Baron Ompteda, the oldest German baron, is seven feet high, and has a brother [Ferdinand] six feet eleven inches and a quarter."
That would make him 213cm tall! His brother was 211cm!
