Friends here answered a question about Prussian Landwehr/Reserve infantry some time ago (thanks again--very helpful!). But what about the Landwehr cavalry? Is there an index or Verzeichnis to track which later cavalry regiments adopted the traditions of the Landwehr cavalry regiments? The 3rd East Prussian Landwehr Cavalry became the ____, for example? Or maybe no later regiment took up the Traditionen of these regts? Did not see anything in Stammliste der Königlich Preußischen Armee seit dem 16ten Jahrhundert to answer this, but perhaps need to look more closely?
Thanks in advance and best regards to all for the Holiday Season!
Thanks, Thomas, very helpful!
Prussian Landwehr (infantry and cavalry) units were not integrated into line regiments of the Prussian army in 1814/15 resp. after the Napoleonic wars. Only (infantry) reserve regiments, some foreign regiments (Berg, Sweden), some volunteer units (Freikorps) and provincial cavalry regiments (East Prussian, Silesian, ...) were integrated. The Landwehr was rather brigaded with line units, even with the guards, and underwent several organizational reforms between 1814 und 1914.
Best regards, Thomas

Hello, Gill. Merry Christmas in advance.I'm not sure exactly what period of Landwehr cavalry you want to know.If you refer to the succession of German cavalry regiments, I think reading this book will help:Georg Tessin,Verbände und Truppen der deutschen Wehrmacht und Waffen-SS im Zweiten Weltkrieg 1939–1945
