Hello!
I recently posted here the results of a piece of research that I did on the subject of the distribution of Baker rifles to the Portuguese Caçadores. Following that post and the comments made by some of you I wrote a small article which was published this month on The Napoleon Series. I which to thanks to Robert Burnham for helping me with the English and to Paul Chamberlain who kindly agreed to publish the article.
I hope it will be of interest to many of you. The link is:

Thanks Rob! Beresford mentioned that one of the boxes sent to the 3rd Caçadores had 22 old weapons. It could be some of those older patterns...
A great bit of research. I'm working on the 1808 campaign leading up to Vimeiro. Looking at a return of the arms and ammunition embarked at Cork, 260,410 rifle cartridges were on board a transport bound for Gijon. These were 30 to the pound so the balls were smaller than the Baker used (22/lb). So, this implies the British were shipping old stock of other rifles to Spain.
