Why indeed. However, careful reading of the article says nothing of the sort. The era is called Napoleonic. It was called the Museé Napoleon. After Waterloo nations did reclaim items looted on Napoleon’s watch. What the article does not say is that the paintings in question were taken by Napoleon. Just not returned following his demise.
