I found this story surprisingly grjpping. I never really considered to what extent Napoleon wanted to dominate France’s life, both physical and spiritual. Or that imprisonments if a priest was the result of what was in reality a matter of ecclesiastic point of order. I found it instructive that those who on the face of it were supporting Napoleon saw themselves as accommodating a necessary evil to protect something they held dear. Thank you @tomholmberg
