I have to catch up a bit after returning from hiking a part of the Lycian Way in Turkey. I remember taking part in my first re-enactment at about 1983 - and in a lot of other sequences. Yes it was a bit in the back water but already then the second most visited tourist spot in Belgium. Of course now it is in full swing of modern tourist promotion, but is this for the better?
I remember fondly Buckland Abbey before it was done up by English Heritage, one modest parking lot and a few people around.
