Bones of Burgos
What is your most interesting (not the most asked!) "What If?" of the Napoleonic era?
What if Artie Wesley hadn't waited until Napoleon was in Russia before "liberating" Spain with Portuguese and Spanish troops and taking all the credit for it and blaming all his mistakes on the Spanish.
What if Nabulieone had been executed in a ditch in Vincennes 1814?
Berthier's health was so bad in 1815 that he was unfit for service, he stayed loyal to the French King and asked for permission to resign for health reasons.
What if Napoleon on St Helena had actually had a proper retrospective, admitted to his mistakes instead of blaming his subordinates?
Would his admirers, in utter disbelief that their hero could make such egregious mistakes, still have spent the last two centuries assaulting their reputations?
What if Berthier had been Major General and chief of staff in 1815?
