Didn't see it mentioned here, but its been mentioned elsewhere on the internet that he has passed away. His uniform books were long time favorites of Napoleonic hobbyists.
Is there any news of whether or not his family will be continuing the business? There has been some discussion on TMP that his (step-?)daughter was looking at handing it on to someone who would keep it going? Anybody heard anything?
I hope this doesn't sound selfish, but rather frustratingly, a project quite close to my heart (the army of Brunswick) was hit by a double-whammy when first the German expert who was writing the book died, and then poor Bill himself.
I just heard the news today. He was my go to source for painting miniatures! He had an amazing library of both books and images. When I went to the U.K. in 2018, one of my plans was to meet up with him. Unfortunately he was going in for heart surgery the week I had put aside to visit him in Norfolk.
I first started buying his uniform books in the early 1980s and was very happy when he came out with the new and improved versions in the 2010s. Most of the new editions were expanded to twice the size of originals and were packed with detailed uniform information and prints. They were a must for the wargamer and miniature painter.
