Tauberbischofsheim rings a bell, should be in Franconia - check it out on a map- or google maps.
Burg Ebrach, today known as Burgebrach - just about 15 km away from where I live, it is on the road via Ebrach to Würzburg, which cuts across the country and is no following the Main river.
I am wondering if the two places have been confused - a serious actoon related to Bischofsheim in April 1797 and a small skirmish in Tauberbischofsheim in early September 1796?
The April 1797 one must be Bisschofsheim in France. I found in my reference seven places called Bischofsheim. Considering the numbers of bishops a rather moderate number.
It is about 20km south-west of Wurzburg, scene of Charles's greatest victory on 3rd September. It is probably just an outpost skirmish.
The place was back then names Bischofsheim.

Most likely to withdraw to is Rheinbischofsheim. It is in Germany 10 km northeast of Kehl. It was called Bischofsheim zum Steg.
