I watched first the short version with no subtitles, next the long version without subtitles, finally saw the short version with subtitles so got to understand what was going on. It still can't be beat in recreation of artillery fire.
Also having seen it 3 times started looking into the revolt. There is a very good YouTube series explaining the events shown. They did a very good, not perfect job in the movie.
