Hi there, The answer to the question "who commanded which company in the Royal Artillery" has been answered by the excellent factsheets that Steve Brown had compiled for the first seven battalions, and for the RHA. For the eighth and ninth battalions, I have been able to source the name and location from the muster and pay sheets for 1815. On the basis this is the go-to source for Napoleonic Wars info, it makes sense to post the information here.....

Here are similar details for the 10th Battalion, albeit for 1814 rather than 1815. Archive reference: WO 10/1048
Captain J MacLachlan Quebec
Captain J Addams Quebec
Captain W M Leake Malta
Captain J Fead Gibraltar Captain R H Birch Gibraltar
Captain R Thornhill Cape of Good Hope
Captain W Lloyd Plymouth
Captain J Chester Chester, then Bexhill
Captain A Dickson Spain, France, then Chatham
Captain W Roberts Isla de Leon, Cadiz, then Woolwich
Thanks, it's always listed at the bottom of the Steve Brown sheets as a source that was consulted. I think locating a copy to view would be difficult, more so given that the James Clavell library is closed, to the best of my knowledge.
Nice job.
For further research see Law, Lieutenant Colonel M. E. S. Battery Records of the Royal Artillery Woolwich : R. A. Institute; 1952.
It details a month by month look at commanders and deployment of the Battalion Companies.
Oops, I left off Captain Lewis Carmichael, whose company of the 8th Battalion Royal Artillery went to the Chesapeake, New Orleans, then to Ostend in June 1815

With regard to Major Michell, he has a diary that has been used as a primary source by the late Robin Reilly, in his book about the Battle of New Orleans. Michell's diary, as well as Sir Alexander Dickson's papers, are in the stewardship of the Royal Artillery Historical Trust, as I understand it. Hope this is of some use to others. Thanks Keith
