It seems that Marshal Mortier fell in on 15 June 1815 at Beaumont. He gave his horses to Ney. Does anyone know what happened to him then, did he return to Paris? And what was hi illness? I read somewhere that he could not mount his horse, and elsewhere that he had gout? But is there anything definitive? It must have been serious. Thanks.

I see my phone corrected "fell ill" to "fell in" on 15 June :-(
I have seen sciatica too but I wonder if he had had that before 15 June 1815.
He might have had sciatia. Back pain when severe prevents you from doing anything, including commanding.
I read that he had a back problem and could not ride.
