Does anyone know if Hesse-Darmstadt issued an official "register" as most monarchies did in the N period?
That is , something that would list officers and military officials, etc.
According to Wikiwakipedia, the "Großherzoglich Hessisches Regierungsblatt" began in 1819 [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gro%C3%9Fherzoglich_Hessisches_Regierungsblatt].
But was there a similar publication earlier? What was it called? (And hope it is on-line!).
Thanks in advance.
John, don't know if this is what you are looking for but there exists a so called "Landgräflich-Hessischer Staats- und Adreß-Kalender auf das Jahr 1806". This was the last Kalender published before the Landgrafschaft Hessen-Darmstadt became Großherzogtum Hessen and part of the Rheinbund...

Wrong again, it's from Kassel.
Kösterus, Martin Karl Ignatz, b. 1792 - . He was still around in the 1830s. Possible government official by his writings.
Thanks for the info on his birth year! And, yes, he shows up as a civilian official in one of the issues of the "Großherzoglich Hessisches Regierungsblatt." He served in II/Leibgarde Regt in 1813.

Huzzah! Many thanks!
Bad News!!!! 😒
The Großherzoglich-hessischer Hofkalender: 1810-1822 does NOT contain any information on military officers.
Only The Landgräflich-hessischer Staats- und Adreß-Kalender: 1791-1806 has such .information.
There exists a:
Großherzoglich Hessischer Militair- Hof- und Civil-Etat 1810 und 1811. Darmstadt: Verlag der Großherzogl. Invaliden-Anstalt, 51 pp.
I will check it WRT Kösterus.
Best regards, Thomas
Many thanks, Thomas!
Haven't looked at this: Musterungsverordnung vom 24. Juni 1808. Musterungsverordnung in 1812
Kösterus does not appear to have served in the Grossherzoglich hessischen Liebgarde-Regiment as an officer in:

other years can be found there too.
Thanks, a great site!
Am looking for an officer or military official named Martin Kösterus in specific, hence the interest in one of the royal almanacs listing individuals by name.
I just noted it is an ordinary newspaper, Grossherzoglich Hessische Zeitung. Not the paper with the government's annoucements. I tend to think there wasn't one, but that seems rather strange. I also found the Anzeiger there, but that contains commercial announcements.
