I'm looking for some details of a Colonel Robinson (or Lieutenant-Colonel), active in Messina and Sicily in 1814 and 1815. Could anyone provide his first names and if he left any correspondence?
Have you looked at Lt Col Morris Robinson who was based in Gibraltar in 1814? http://www.robinsonancestry.uk/name-index/morris-robinson-1759-1815
Thanks for this. An interesting career, but he died a bit early in 1815 and this one was till in Sicily in October 1815. Thanks though!
William Robinson Royal Marine Artillery
Captain 22 November 1809
Brevet Major 23 February 1815
Colonel in the service of the King of Sicily
He sounds like the one, in charge of some gunboats in Messina in 1814 and 1815. Many thanks!
He seems to have discovered the ruins of Oplontis, just south of Naples.
