Dear Forum Members,
I hope you are all keeping as well as humanly possible in these difficult times.
I am pleased to report an update on forum navigation which may please some members. A number of individuals have asked if there is a way to see which posts have recent activity in them (as some discussions continue to run for weeks). Until now, the only way to do that was to visit a specific forum 'room' (eg General Discussion, Peninsular War, etc), and then to sort the posts according to 'recent activity'.
Now however, I have installed an update which allows for the white boxes at the bottom of the forum to display one of a number of options. Before now, this showed the 'most recent posts' (ie the new conversations that people have started). I have now been able to amend this so that it shows 'most recent activity'. As a result, the white boxes now indicate where there has been recent action on the forum (whether a like or new comment).
As the screen shot below shows, on the main forum page, you will also find that there are three blue boxes which show new posts. This cannot be amended in any way.
I appreciate that there may be concern that by doing this, people may be worried that they miss new posts. I have therefore increased the number of white boxes displayed from 9 to 21, so that this is unlikely to be a problem. If there is sufficient support for it, I can always change things back.
PLEASE BE AWARE: There is a glitch in the wix software that means that when you click on the white box, it does not automatically take you to the relevant post, but instead takes you back to the top of the page. This has been raised with site support. In the meantime, there are two options:
1) Right click on the link, and click 'Open in new window'.
2) When you click on the link, it actually updates the web address at the top of the page to the correct one, but simply does not load it. As a result, if you hit F5 on your keyboard, your browser will refresh and take you to the correct page.
Apologies for the inconvenience. When wix fix the bug, I will get back to you.
Stay safe, and thank you for the interesting discussions and comments that you are all contributing to the forum.
Warmest Best Wishes
Zack
Thanks for all the work you are doing keeping the Forum running.
