Funnily enough Rob Griffith was making the point last Saturday at the Waterloo Association's meeting at the Royal Armouries that Wellington's reverse slope defensive reputation was not as warranted as Oman and others promote.
Whilst there have been worse Prime Ministers than Wellington (some quite recently!) I wouldn't have characterised him as particularly successful either.
