Trafalgar Day

October 21, 2017

Today is another significant date, although many of you may not know it. Today is Trafalgar day, the 212th anniversary of the pivotal naval battle in which the British fleet, under Admiral Horatio Nelson, smashed a combined French and Spanish fleet off Cape Trafalgar, Spain. It was a battle which secured British domination of the sea for the next 100 years, and ensured that Britain really did ‘rule the waves’.
